A Voice to Tell Our Story
Beaford Arts

Lisa Schneidau paints pictures in your mind, makes ordinary extraordinary: hear two new stories created with 100s of children from 10 local schools – showcasing young storytellers.

  • Join our hero and heroine on two wild adventures through the rolling hills and sparkling waters of North Devon
  • Meet talking and shapeshifting creatures as we travel through time to discover the magic in our landscape
  • Hear stories from the imaginations of our next generation of storytellers, inspired by story walks in their local community
  • A multimedia performance that transforms the ordinary into the extra-ordinary - are you ready to journey with us?!

A Voice to Tell our Story is the result of an exciting 3 year project led by Beaford exploring ways to help the next generation of storytellers in North Devon speak up, listen well, and have fun working together and learning through the arts.

More than 300 children, 10 primary schools, 4 artists, 1 amazing project – A Voice To Tell Our Story.

The result is original stories brought to life through illustration, photography and film.

In this performance, storyteller Lisa will share two of these brand-new stories alongside some of the many children aged 7-11 involved in the project who are taking their first brave steps in the world of storytelling. Everything you see and hear has been created by the children involved in the project.

As well as art, photography, and film projections, each performance will be complimented with live music by Jules Moberly on guitar.

Intrigued?! Come and join our whirlwind of words that travel you through a hero and heroine adventure story. From disasters and near explosions, to flying carpets, dragons and skeletons…where will each adventure take us? Certainly nothing is what it seems, and the impossible certainly is possible. We hope you enjoy it.
