A Way With Words
Beneath The Tracksuit

This is more than a poetry show, it’s an experience built from real life, real battles and the humour that gets us through both.

Blending sharp wit, honest storytelling and powerful spoken word, this performance brings the heart of Beneath The Tracksuit to the stage in a way that’s raw, relatable and unexpectedly up-lifting.

Funny, thought-provoking and deeply human, the show explores mental health, identity, living with MS, fatherhood and the everyday moments we don’t usually stop to talk about, from internal struggles to how weird ordering a coffee had become, from. From the kids being nuts to being a poet which didn't like poetry.

It moves effortlessly between laugh-out-loud honesty and quieter, reflective moments that hit close to home without ever feeling heavy.

Performed by Robert Gillett. He's a poet, author, speaker and MS and mental health advocate. This show is shaped by years of lived experience and a growing reputation for powerful, accessible storytelling.

Known for his ability to connect with audiences through warmth, wit and emotional honesty, Robert has built a loyal following through his books, live performances and community work, using words to open conversations many people struggle to start.

This isn’t poetry for poetry lovers only, it’s storytelling for anyone. Warm, engaging and refreshingly real, the performance feels less like a show and more like a conversation you didn’t know you needed.

You’ll laugh, you’ll think, and somewhere along the way, you’ll probably see a little bit of yourself on stage.

It’s intimate, uplifting and quietly powerful, the kind of show people talk about afterwards, quote on the way home and carry with them long after the poetry finishes.
