Poetic Tales
Kim Hicks

Kim Hicks returns to the Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest following a very enjoyable experience last year presenting her one-woman Jane Austen show, 'Courtship'.

Her offering this time is a magical selection from amongst her favourite pieces of writing. With a mix of humour, romance, drama and above all the beauty and power of language Kim transports you around the British Isles and beyond.

Ranging from familiar favourites to pieces that may be new to audiences, the poetry and prose that Kim offers in this performance will evoke the characterful Ireland of Flann O'Brien and Dylan Thomas's childhood Christmas in Wales.

You will see poor Albert eaten by the Lion and will wait with Bess the landlord's daughter as she listens for the horse hooves of her highwayman lover.

Kim says her motives in presenting this show are almost entirely selfish as she just wants the excuse to re-live her own delight in these wonderful pieces of writing by sharing them with you.

This show quite simply celebrates the variety and richness of the English language. Don't miss "Poetic Tales" with Kim Hicks.
