Mental health services in the UK are facing a crisis due to increased demand and limited resources, with rising referrals, long waiting times, and a shortage of beds, leading to a strain on the NHS and reliance on private care. Devon Rose Theatre are taking on the challenge of being the voice of those who have been failed by the mental health system in the UK from the perspective of the ‘service users’ and staff using real accounts. But it doesn’t stop there. External services are also feeling the effects of this system breakdown, using their resources, budgets and time to pick up the pieces of the shattered infrastructure. Every 40 seconds, a person takes their own life. A powerful 1 woman performance, delivering the voice of the failed ‘service users’ of the mental health system, using real accounts. Watch as a ‘high service user’ builds a strong bond with newly qualified ‘call handler’ whose ambitions are high in her naivety to the system, to make a difference. Hard lessons are learnt in a fast spiral of turmoil and chaos leading to untimely events.
