Richard Pulsford: Yorkshire Dad, Immigrant Mum
Mirth of Forth Productions

Multi-award-winning stand-up comedian Richard Pulsford has taken the unusual step aside from his usual quality one-liners and pun shows in writing and performing this new autobiographical show.

This show sees Richard taking a nostalgic dive into his parents’ past as he tries to understand what made them who they were, and therefore the person who he is. His parentage is an unusual mix, with a dad from Yorkshire and a ‘foreign’ mum from continental Europe.

Perhaps it should be no surprise that with such a heritage, Richard ended up being, by his own admission, ‘funny’.

This show brings a highly personal perspective to the whole immigration debate which is so frequently in the news this decade.

Richard has been performing stand-up for more than two decades and has received the following acknowledgements for his performing and writing abilities:

  • British Comedian of the Year semi-finalist 2026
  • Nominated Best stand-up at Buxton Fringe 2023
  • UK Pun Champion at the Leicester Comedy Festival 2022
  • Scottish Comedian of the Year runner-up 2021
  • 3 x Top Ten Jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe
  • 'Exudes confidence and charm'' ***** (Lancaster Guardian)
  • ‘Quick, original and funny' **** (Broadway Baby)
  • ‘Richard is a really funny guy’ (Gary Delaney)
  • ‘Material which conjures up some great images’ (Tom Allen)
