Did you know, there’s been a fringe festival in in Barnstaple since 3050 BC. And it all started around an old henge. No one quite knows the rituals surrounding these ancient stones, the entertainment that our old ancestors might have congregated around, all we know is that it happened in the middle of the year, and people flocked together to do something…
An ancient stone circle, a congregation space for our ancestors made from massive rocks. Or, dancers frozen in time. Pipers turned to stone. Witches petrified for eternity.
They’re just some rocks in a field, right?
A host of southwest performers come together to bring the henge to life. As a marker for the Fringe Theatrefest's 20th year, come and join for some music, storytelling, and see if you can spot these moving stones around town, a moveable monument, before they settle as a space for remembrance, celebration, and looking to the future.
