Newly weds Johnny and Janey have just arrived in their hotel room. Everything should be perfect but it frankly it isn’t. Johnny’s in a bad mood because he did not win a car at the state fair. The smoke detector has a low battery. It tells them this frequently.
They get past the lack of a new car, but the smoke detector keeps talking. Nothing pours cold water on intimacy faster than the robotic voice speaking the words “LOW BATTERY” over and over again. Soon Johny is trying to do anything to stop the smoke detector with its low battery in this comedy about a wedding night.
Janey just wants to get a handyman, but not Johnny, because he’s worried that as Janey’s father paid for the room, he’ll think Johnny’s a whiner he also suspects that Janey’s father really doesn’t like him and only offered him a job just because he married Janey.
The wedding night deteriorates further. Naturally, Janey then starts to have a bit of a melt down, as a result Johnny relents and phones for the handyman. But now it’s Janey’s turn. She has doubts. Did she do the right thing, marrying this paranoid man who seems to care more about her dad than her wedding night? Johnny has to do a rapid about turn.
Finally the handyman arrives, replaces the battery and leaves.
All is well, all is calm.
Then the smoke detector goes into full evacuation mode!
