Singles Night: Over 50s

Holly Kavanagh

Come watch Wakefield's best loved singles night.

See regulars Joan, Jimmy, Mr Gill (fish gill not 'up the hill..') and barmaid Gemma play out the warming, fun events of a typical evening.

Holly Kavanagh has just finished touring with Cornish company BishBashBosh (whose production of Surfing Tommies was a huge hit at last year's fringe theatrefest) and is this year taking her one woman show Singles Night: Over 50s to the PBH Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A graduate of Bretton Hall, Holly has performed Singles Night in Wakefield, Leeds and London, and is really excited to be performing it at Fringe Theatrefest.

Last summer Holly toured in Cornish company Miracle Theatre's production of Tartuffe, playing Marrianne, and always enjoys the chance to work in the South West, having devised and directed with members of The Torpoint Youth Project, and re-touring with BishBashBosh in the Autumn.

Single's Night: Over 50s is a piece about the bittersweet nature of life, and the loveliness of people, in a mixture of comedy, standup and character work. Come along and enjoy.

"Diminutive in size, Holly is a powerhouse on stage - seamlessly morphing from confidante and friend to cackling crone Jenna Trewethen as well as portraying the hilarious Anglican Minister, William Polglaze."
Sheila Vanloo, Radio St. Austell Bay (2010 A Mere Interlude - BishBashBosh)

"Holly Kavanagh, making a very promising debut for Miracle (Theatre), is delightful as Orgon's frightened daughter. Her attempted suicides - smothered with a cushion and hanged by a ribbon - are superb, while her expressions of coyness, indignation and sheer bafflement are extremely well judged."
Western Morning News, Simon Parker (2009 Tartuffe)
