Dance Me To The End Of Love

This dance piece is set to the melody of Leonard Cohen's 'Dance Me to the End of Love'. Although originally a love song, it was inspired by Holocaust victims in the death camps. In some of the camps, musicians were pressed into playing as their families and friends went to the gas chambers. These musicians had more chance of prolonged survival.

This contemporary/ballet style of dance is focused on a Jewish community with a young boy who is spared by learning to play an instrument. In this case the violin.

This piece is extraordinarily moving, the dance is fluent and the musical accompaniment, particularly the violin, is particularly haunting. A passionately presented piece of musical dance theatre.
