We Used To Wait

Massive Owl

"So here I am. Here we are. Here we go."

Moving from moments of one-on-one intimacy to moments of ensemble celebration, We Used To Wait explores how technological advances may have affected both our experience of and relationship to each other. We Used To Wait seeks to give its audience an embodied experience through provoking what it means to be ‘live’.

We Used To Wait is supported by Arts Council England, Live Theatre, ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Theatre in the Mill and INTERVAL Bristol.

Massive Owl are a Bristol based collaborative devised theatre company led by Artistic Leads: Danny Prosser and Sam Powell and working with Associate Artists: Harriet Quinn, Jack Jago, Jenny Duffy, Adrian Spring and Katharina Walsh. The company was formed by Adrian, Danny and Sam while studying together at Dartington College of Arts/University College Falmouth in 2009. The company seek to devise and tell new, thought provoking stories.

‘They have developed a very distinctive style that is mature and highly skilled, and demonstrates an exceptional understanding of ensemble performance. The performance work they create sits somewhere between physical theatre and live art, with their ability to ‘story-tell’ through the most minimal of means making their work both complex and accessible.’
Kate Craddock, Festival Director, Gateshead International Festival of Theatre (GIFT)

Massive Owl’s aim is to make innovative performance work that is hard to define and label as a particular genre, whilst being accessible to a wide range of audiences. They are particularly interested in engaging audiences who may not regularly attend the theatre. At the heart of their performances is collaboration between the company, the collision of their independent interests and experiences and the other artists they work with.

Massive Owl are Associate Artists of University College Falmouth incorporating Dartington College of Arts and members of INTERVAL Bristol, an artistic led support network for Bristol based performance makers based at The Parlour -
