DEATH (by PowerPoint)
Liam Gifford

Returning to the Fringe TheatreFest as a performer for the first time since 2013, DEATH (by PowerPoint) is the first solo show by North Devon-raised theatre-maker, Liam Gifford.

A show 37 years in the making, it promises a fusion of the fear of the end with wonderings of what's next and a grave sense of humour shared through the most exhausting medium of all: PowerPoint (just don't tell Bill Gates).

Liam has appeared at Fringe TheatreFest in the past with OpenBatch Theatre, The Monday Collective and White Hippos with his last contribution being the highly-regarded 1000 Words which was performed at Lilico's and The Old Bus Station in 2013.

In the years since, Liam has made work which has been presented across the UK including at Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Hat Fair Outdoor Arts festival and Chichester Festival Theatres. He is a long-term collaborator with the nationally-regarded ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, working closely with their Artistic Director, Zoie Golding MBE, on a number of professional and community projects. In recent years, Liam has worked on large-scale mass participation performances with performers from across the West Midlands as part of both the Commonwealth Games Festival in 2022 and the Birmingham Festival in 2023.

Returning home to North Devon to present his first-ever solo show fills Liam with equal parts of delight and despair, but there is no other place than Fringe TheatreFest where he would want to present this work.
