Buckets of Blood - Fairy Tales Not for Kids
Stories Alive

Join Yorkshire storyteller Eden Ballantyne as he retells some of the darker tales from the Brothers Grimm. Back in 1812 when the brothers first published their book of fairy stories, mutilation, kidnapping, cannibalism were all seen as perfectly acceptable for kid’s bedtime stories, things have changed, but it doesn’t mean these stories should not be told. Hear a selection of the truly grim Grimm tales, while also finding out the bits popular of fairy tales have censored for kids over time.

With excessive violence and gore, you’ll meet stepmothers who kill, and young women who defeat murderous wizards, not to mention a homicidal bird. This certainly isn’t a Disney fairy story.

This will be Eden’s 2nd year performing at Fringe Theatre Fest Barnstaple, and “redacted” year of performing stories at Fringe Festivals around the world. Eden is a historical storyteller and theatre performer. After years as an actor, live interpreter, and street performer, he knows just how to weave a tale to engage the whole family. Now he’s hoping the kids will be left at home so he can gross out the grownups.
